The Di-Hydro Decision Making Platform, or DMP for short, is an innovative software solution designed by Consortium partner MAS. In practice, the DMP supports the operation and maintenance of hydropower plants and hydropower clusters. By combining operational data, forecasting services, optimisation algorithms and artificial intelligence, the platform helps operators make faster, more informed and more efficient decisions.

A Single Platform for Better Decisions

The DMP integrates key information such as water inflow forecasts, energy market prices, technical constraints, reservoir operating limits and maintenance schedules into a unified environment. Using advanced optimisation techniques, it generates production schedules that balance economic performance, operational reliability and environmental requirements.

From Data to Action

The platform supports both short-term, market-oriented decisions and long-term production planning. To do so, interactive dashboards, scenario analysis tools and an AI-powered chatbot allow users to easily explore data. Moreover, it can also compare optimisation results and assess alternative operating strategies.

Validated in Real Hydropower Systems

To make sure of its validity, our pilot hydropower sites in Italy, Greece and Serbia tested the DMP and its different functions. During the trials, the tool demonstrated its ability to support operators under different technical, environmental and market conditions.

Supporting the Digital Transformation in Hydropower

As a key outcome of Di-Hydro, the DMP showcases how AI, forecasting and optimisation technologies can improve the efficiency, resilience and sustainability of hydropower operations, contributing to a smarter and greener energy future.
